The surah that opens with the oath of the Divine One swearing by The Dawn , and other natural occurrences and sacred designations, as a means of categorical affirmation to mankind that God shall, indeed, hold all people accountable. It is names after "the dawn" (al-fajr) mentioned in verse 1 . A surah in which God emphasizes that the tyrants of the Prophet’s time will be like those He dealt with in the past. The surah compares the destiny of the ungrateful with that of the souls at peace.
The surah is also known as: The Daybreak.

AL-FAJR

بِسْمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحْمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ
وَالْفَجْرِ ﴿١﴾
١ - فجر کی قسم .
[89:1] By the dawn
[Transliteration] Wal-Fajr

وَلَيَالٍ عَشْرٍ ﴿٢﴾
٢ - اور دس راتوں کی .
[89:2] And [by] ten nights
[Transliteration] Wa layaalin 'ashr

وَالشَّفْعِ وَالْوَتْرِ ﴿٣﴾
٣ - اور جفت اور طاق کی .
[89:3] And [by] the even [number] and the odd
[Transliteration] Wash shaf'i wal watr

وَاللَّيْلِ إِذَا يَسْرِ ﴿٤﴾
٤ - اور رات کی جب جانے لگے .
[89:4] And [by] the night when it passes,
[Transliteration] Wallaili izaa yasr

هَلْ فِي ذَٰلِكَ قَسَمٌ لِذِي حِجْرٍ ﴿٥﴾
٥ - اور بے شک یہ چیزیں عقلمندوں کے نزدیک قسم کھانے کے لائق ہیں کہ (کافروں کو ضرور عذاب ہو گا) .
[89:5] Is there [not] in [all] that an oath [sufficient] for one of perception?
[Transliteration] Hal fee zaalika qasamul lizee hijr

أَلَمْ تَرَ كَيْفَ فَعَلَ رَبُّكَ بِعَادٍ ﴿٦﴾
٦ - کیا تم نے نہیں دیکھا کہ تمہارے پروردگار نے عاد کے ساتھ کیا کیا .
[89:6] Have you not considered how your Lord dealt with 'Aad -
[Transliteration] Alam tara kaifa fa'ala rabbuka bi'aad

إِرَمَ ذَاتِ الْعِمَادِ ﴿٧﴾
٧ - (جو) ارم (کہلاتے تھے اتنے) دراز قد .
[89:7] [With] Iram - who had lofty pillars,
[Transliteration] Iramaa zaatil 'imaad

الَّتِي لَمْ يُخْلَقْ مِثْلُهَا فِي الْبِلَادِ ﴿٨﴾
٨ - کہ تمام ملک میں ایسے پیدا نہیں ہوئے تھے .
[89:8] The likes of whom had never been created in the land?
[Transliteration] Allatee lam yukhlaq misluhaa fil bilaad

وَثَمُودَ الَّذِينَ جَابُوا الصَّخْرَ بِالْوَادِ ﴿٩﴾
٩ - اور ثمود کے ساتھ (کیا کیا) جو وادئِ (قریٰ) میں پتھر تراشتے تھے (اور گھر بناتے) تھے .
[89:9] And [with] Thamud, who carved out the rocks in the valley?
[Transliteration] Wa samoodal lazeena jaabus sakhra bil waad

وَفِرْعَوْنَ ذِي الْأَوْتَادِ ﴿١٠﴾
١٠ - اور فرعون کے ساتھ (کیا کیا) جو خیمے اور میخیں رکھتا تھا .
[89:10] And [with] Pharaoh, owner of the stakes? -
[Transliteration] Wa fir'awna zil awtaad

الَّذِينَ طَغَوْا فِي الْبِلَادِ ﴿١١﴾
١١ - یہ لوگ ملکوں میں سرکش ہو رہے تھے .
[89:11] [All of] whom oppressed within the lands
[Transliteration] Allazeena taghaw fil bilaad

فَأَكْثَرُوا فِيهَا الْفَسَادَ ﴿١٢﴾
١٢ - اور ان میں بہت سی خرابیاں کرتے تھے .
[89:12] And increased therein the corruption.
[Transliteration] Fa aksaroo feehal fasaad

فَصَبَّ عَلَيْهِمْ رَبُّكَ سَوْطَ عَذَابٍ ﴿١٣﴾
١٣ - تو تمہارے پروردگار نے ان پر عذاب کا کوڑا نازل کیا .
[89:13] So your Lord poured upon them a scourge of punishment.
[Transliteration] Fasabba 'alaihim Rabbuka sawta 'azaab

إِنَّ رَبَّكَ لَبِالْمِرْصَادِ ﴿١٤﴾
١٤ - بے شک تمہارا پروردگار تاک میں ہے .
[89:14] Indeed, your Lord is in observation.
[Transliteration] Inna Rabbaka labil mirsaad

فَأَمَّا الْإِنْسَانُ إِذَا مَا ابْتَلَاهُ رَبُّهُ فَأَكْرَمَهُ وَنَعَّمَهُ فَيَقُولُ رَبِّي أَكْرَمَنِ ﴿١٥﴾
١٥ - مگر انسان (عجیب مخلوق ہے کہ) جب اس کا پروردگار اس کو آزماتا ہے تو اسے عزت دیتا اور نعمت بخشتا ہے۔ تو کہتا ہے کہ (آہا) میرے پروردگار نے مجھے عزت بخشی .
[89:15] And as for man, when his Lord tries him and [thus] is generous to him and favors him, he says, "My Lord has honored me."
[Transliteration] Fa ammal insaanu izaa mab talaahu Rabbuhoo fa akramahoo wa na' 'amahoo fa yaqoolu Rabbeee akraman

وَأَمَّا إِذَا مَا ابْتَلَاهُ فَقَدَرَ عَلَيْهِ رِزْقَهُ فَيَقُولُ رَبِّي أَهَانَنِ ﴿١٦﴾
١٦ - اور جب (دوسری طرح) آزماتا ہے کہ اس پر روزی تنگ کر دیتا ہے تو کہتا ہے کہ (ہائے) میرے پروردگار نے مجھے ذلیل کیا .
[89:16] But when He tries him and restricts his provision, he says, "My Lord has humiliated me."
[Transliteration] Wa ammaaa izaa mabtalaahu faqadara 'alaihi rizqahoo fa yaqoolu Rabbeee ahaanan

كَلَّا ۖ بَلْ لَا تُكْرِمُونَ الْيَتِيمَ ﴿١٧﴾
١٧ - نہیں بلکہ تم لوگ یتیم کی خاطر نہیں کرتے .
[89:17] No! But you do not honor the orphan
[Transliteration] Kalla bal laa tukrimooo nal yateem

وَلَا تَحَاضُّونَ عَلَىٰ طَعَامِ الْمِسْكِينِ ﴿١٨﴾
١٨ - اور نہ مسکین کو کھانا کھلانے کی ترغیب دیتے ہو .
[89:18] And you do not encourage one another to feed the poor.
[Transliteration] Wa laa tahaaaddoona 'alaata'aamil miskeen

وَتَأْكُلُونَ التُّرَاثَ أَكْلًا لَمًّا ﴿١٩﴾
١٩ - اور میراث کے مال سمیٹ کر کھا جاتے ہو .
[89:19] And you consume inheritance, devouring [it] altogether,
[Transliteration] Wa taakuloonat turaasa aklal lammaa

وَتُحِبُّونَ الْمَالَ حُبًّا جَمًّا ﴿٢٠﴾
٢٠ - اور مال کو بہت ہی عزیز رکھتے ہو .
[89:20] And you love wealth with immense love.
[Transliteration] Wa tuhibboonal maala hubban jammaa

كَلَّا إِذَا دُكَّتِ الْأَرْضُ دَكًّا دَكًّا ﴿٢١﴾
٢١ - تو جب زمین کی بلندی کوٹ کوٹ کو پست کر دی جائے گی .
[89:21] No! When the earth has been leveled - pounded and crushed -
[Transliteration] Kallaaa izaaa dukkatil ardu dakkan dakka

وَجَاءَ رَبُّكَ وَالْمَلَكُ صَفًّا صَفًّا ﴿٢٢﴾
٢٢ - اور تمہارا پروردگار (جلوہ فرما ہو گا) اور فرشتے قطار باندھ باندھ کر آ موجود ہوں گے .
[89:22] And your Lord has come and the angels, rank upon rank,
[Transliteration] Wa jaaa'a Rabbuka wal malaku saffan saffaa

وَجِيءَ يَوْمَئِذٍ بِجَهَنَّمَ ۚ يَوْمَئِذٍ يَتَذَكَّرُ الْإِنْسَانُ وَأَنَّىٰ لَهُ الذِّكْرَىٰ ﴿٢٣﴾
٢٣ - اور دوزخ اس دن حاضر کی جائے گی تو انسان اس دن متنبہ ہو گا مگر تنبہ (سے) اسے (فائدہ) کہاں (مل سکے گا) .
[89:23] And brought [within view], that Day, is Hell - that Day, man will remember, but what good to him will be the remembrance?
[Transliteration] Wa jeee'a yawma'izim bi jahannnam, Yawma 'iziny yatazakkarul insaanu wa annaa lahuz zikraa

يَقُولُ يَا لَيْتَنِي قَدَّمْتُ لِحَيَاتِي ﴿٢٤﴾
٢٤ - کہے گا کاش میں نے اپنی زندگی (جاودانی کے لیے) کچھ آگے بھیجا ہوتا .
[89:24] He will say, "Oh, I wish I had sent ahead [some good] for my life."
[Transliteration] Yaqoolu yaa laitanee qaddamtu lihayaatee

فَيَوْمَئِذٍ لَا يُعَذِّبُ عَذَابَهُ أَحَدٌ ﴿٢٥﴾
٢٥ - تو اس دن نہ کوئی خدا کے عذاب کی طرح کا (کسی کو) عذاب دے گا .
[89:25] So on that Day, none will punish [as severely] as His punishment,
[Transliteration] Fa Yawma izil laa yu'azzibu 'azaabahooo ahad

وَلَا يُوثِقُ وَثَاقَهُ أَحَدٌ ﴿٢٦﴾
٢٦ - اور نہ کوئی ویسا جکڑنا جکڑے گا .
[89:26] And none will bind [as severely] as His binding [of the evildoers].
[Transliteration] Wa laa yoosiqu wasaaqa hooo ahad

يَا أَيَّتُهَا النَّفْسُ الْمُطْمَئِنَّةُ ﴿٢٧﴾
٢٧ - اے اطمینان پانے والی روح! .
[89:27] [To the righteous it will be said], "O reassured soul,
[Transliteration] Yaaa ayyatuhan nafsul mutma 'innah

ارْجِعِي إِلَىٰ رَبِّكِ رَاضِيَةً مَرْضِيَّةً ﴿٢٨﴾
٢٨ - اپنے پروردگار کی طرف لوٹ چل۔ تو اس سے راضی وہ تجھ سے راضی .
[89:28] Return to your Lord, well-pleased and pleasing [to Him],
[Transliteration] Irji'eee ilaa Rabbiki raadiyatam mardiyyah

فَادْخُلِي فِي عِبَادِي ﴿٢٩﴾
٢٩ - تو میرے (ممتاز) بندوں میں شامل ہو جا .
[89:29] And enter among My [righteous] servants
[Transliteration] Fadkhulee fee 'ibaadee

وَادْخُلِي جَنَّتِي ﴿٣٠﴾
٣٠ - اور میری بہشت میں داخل ہو جا.
[89:30] And enter My Paradise."
