The surah that mentions the practical fragility of the webbed home of The Spider as an analogy for those who take false deities as a shelter. It takes its name from verse 41 which mentions "the spider" (ʿankabūt). The surah stresses that believers will be tested and that they should remain steadfast. The misconceptions of disbelievers regarding the nature of revelation and the Prophet are addressed. References are made to earlier prophets and details given of the punishments brought on those who denied them.

فَإِذَا رَكِبُوا فِي الْفُلْكِ دَعَوُا اللَّهَ مُخْلِصِينَ لَهُ الدِّينَ فَلَمَّا نَجَّاهُمْ إِلَى الْبَرِّ إِذَا هُمْ يُشْرِكُونَ ﴿٦٥﴾
٦٥ - پھر جب یہ کشتی میں سوار ہوتے ہیں تو خدا کو پکارتے (اور) خالص اُسی کی عبادت کرتے ہیں۔ لیکن جب وہ اُن کو نجات دے کر خشکی پر پہنچا دیتا ہے تو جھٹ شرک کرنے لگے جاتے ہیں .
[29:65] And when they board a ship, they supplicate Allah, sincere to Him in religion. But when He delivers them to the land, at once they associate others with Him
[Transliteration] Fa-izaa rakiboo fil fulki da'awul laaha mukhilseena lahud deena falammaa najjaa hum ilal baari izaa hum yushrikoon
