The surah that opens with this single world, al-Qāriʿah, meaning The Catastrophe, for that is the repeated sound that shall resound through all the earth as it is being pulverized in the cataclysm at the end of time, levelled utterly for the Resurrection Day and the ultimate Judgment of every human soul. It takes its name from "the catastrophe" (al-qāriʿah) mentioned in verse 1 ff. The surah gives some scenes from the Resurrection and Judgement.
The surah is also known as: The Calamity, The Clatterer, The Crashing Blow, The Day of Noise and Clamour, The Disaster, The Great Calamity, The Great Pounding, The Smiter, The Stunning (Blow).

AL-QAAR'IAH


بِسْمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحْمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ

ٱلْقَارِعَةُ ﴿١﴾

١ - کھڑ کھڑانے والی
[101:1] The Striking Calamity -
[Transliteration] Al qaari'ah

مَا ٱلْقَارِعَةُ ﴿٢﴾

٢ - کھڑ کھڑانے والی کیا ہے؟
[101:2] What is the Striking Calamity?
[Transliteration] Mal qaariah

وَمَآ أَدْرَىٰكَ مَا ٱلْقَارِعَةُ ﴿٣﴾

٣ - اور تم کیا جانوں کھڑ کھڑانے والی کیا ہے؟
[101:3] And what can make you know what is the Striking Calamity?
[Transliteration] Wa maa adraaka mal qaari'ah

يَوْمَ يَكُونُ ٱلنَّاسُ كَٱلْفَرَاشِ ٱلْمَبْثُوثِ ﴿٤﴾

٤ - (وہ قیامت ہے) جس دن لوگ ایسے ہوں گے جیسے بکھرے ہوئے پتنگے
[101:4] It is the Day when people will be like moths, dispersed,
[Transliteration] Yauma ya koonun naasu kal farashil mabthooth

وَتَكُونُ ٱلْجِبَالُ كَٱلْعِهْنِ ٱلْمَنفُوشِ ﴿٥﴾

٥ - اور پہاڑ ایسے ہو جائیں گے جیسے دھنکی ہوئی رنگ برنگ کی اون
[101:5] And the mountains will be like wool, fluffed up.
[Transliteration] Wa ta koonul jibalu kal 'ihnil manfoosh

فَأَمَّا مَن ثَقُلَتْ مَوَٰزِينُهُۥ ﴿٦﴾

٦ - تو جس کے (اعمال کے) وزن بھاری نکلیں گے
[101:6] Then as for one whose scales are heavy [with good deeds],
[Transliteration] Fa-amma man thaqulat mawa zeenuh

فَهُوَ فِى عِيشَةٍ رَّاضِيَةٍ ﴿٧﴾

٧ - وہ دل پسند عیش میں ہو گا
[101:7] He will be in a pleasant life.
[Transliteration] Fahuwa fee 'ishatir raadiyah

وَأَمَّا مَنْ خَفَّتْ مَوَٰزِينُهُۥ ﴿٨﴾

٨ - اور جس کے وزن ہلکے نکلیں گے
[101:8] But as for one whose scales are light,
[Transliteration] Wa amma man khaffat mawa zeenuh

فَأُمُّهُۥ هَاوِيَةٌ ﴿٩﴾

٩ - اس کا مرجع ہاویہ ہے
[101:9] His refuge will be an abyss.
[Transliteration] Fa-ummuhu haawiyah

وَمَآ أَدْرَىٰكَ مَا هِيَهْ ﴿١٠﴾

١٠ - اور تم کیا سمجھے کہ ہاویہ کیا چیز ہے؟
[101:10] And what can make you know what that is?
[Transliteration] Wa maa adraaka maa hiyah

نَارٌ حَامِيَةٌۢ ﴿١١﴾

١١ - دہکتی ہوئی آگ ہے
[101:11] It is a Fire, intensely hot.
[Transliteration] Naarun hamiyah
